Inclusiviteit: ook voor oudere vrouwen

 

Joke de Ruiter presenteert haar pitch

Tijdens een levendige briefing op 27 januari 2025 voor NGO's in Nederland over de 69e VN Commissie voor de Status van Vrouwen (CSW), presenteerden diverse experts hun pitches met aanbevelingen aan de delegatie voor de komende CSW-onderhandelingen. De vierde pitch werd gegeven door Joke de Ruiter, voorzitter van de stichting Oudere Vrouwen netwerk Nederland (OVN). OVN, opgericht in 2001, brengt vrouwen samen afkomstig uit ouderenbonden en organisaties van vrouwen uit minderheidsgroepen in Nederland. Het netwerk is lid van de Nederlandse Vrouwen Raad (NVR) en in Brussel van Age Platform Europe.

Om te beginnen: ik ben blij dat inmiddels de vrouwenvertegenwoordiger voorgedragen door de NVR voor de Algemene Vergadering van de VN bekend is, dit is Marica Wismeijer.  

OVN vraagt aandacht voor en werkt aan een betere sociaal, economisch en medische positie van oudere vrouwen. En onze doelgroep bestaat uit velen. Ik maak weleens de grap dat als er beleid gemaakt wordt voor de oudste ouderen, dat in feite vrouwenbeleid moet zijn. 

Pensioenkloof
Economische positie betekent wat mij betreft voor vrouwen loon en pensioen. De toekomst wordt voorbereid in het heden. En ook nu is er nog steeds een loonkloof. Wordt economische zelfstandigheid bereikt als je het bijstandsinkomen verdiend. Werkt parttime werken erg onvoordelig uit voor een goed pensioen straks. Ligt in de uitvoering van de nieuwe pensioenwet het nabestaande pensioen onder bedreiging. En is onduidelijk hoe toezeggingen uit het verleden gestand zullen blijven.  

Oudere vrouwen weten hier al alles van: slechts 40% heeft een aanvullend pensioen en nog veel minder zijn economisch onafhankelijk.  

Geweld tegen vrouwen
Naast onze economische positie wil ik een tweede punt benoemen: geweld tegen vrouwen. Heb vooral niet de illusie dat het stopt omdat je ouder of oud wordt; dit geweld krijgt alleen nog veel minder aandacht. En verandert soms van karakter. Ontspoorde mantelzorg, financiële uitbuiting, slachtoffer worden van afpersing.  

Inclusieve samenleving
Voor alle vrouwenorganisaties, inclusief de Nederlandse Vrouwenraad, maar vooral de Nederlandse overheid is er urgent werk aan de winkel! Er wordt veel gesproken over een inclusieve samenleving. Mijn hoop is dat in Nederland, in Genève en in New York, als het om vrouwen gaat, de inclusiviteit alle vrouwen betreft, jong, middelbaar, ouder en oud, geboren in Nederland of later komen wonen.

ARTivism for Change: Creativity as Resistance at CSW69

Artwork "Who can I trust with my story?" from ArtVism in Uganda During the 69th CSW, the Our Voices Our Futures (OVOF) consortium organised a creative ARTivism for Change space where bold protest sign-making, intimate film screenings, and thought-provoking feminist dialogues blended together.
