VN start alomvattende campagne tegen geweld tegen vrouwen

Op de openingsdag van de 52ste vergadering van de Commission on the Status of Women kondigde Secretary General Ban Ki-moon (VN) een omvattende campagne aan die tot doel heeft alle geweld tegen vrouwen uit te bannen. De campagne loopt tot 2015 - het jaar waarop de Millennium Development Goals (MDG's) bereikt moeten zijn. Dan moet dus ook alle geweld tegen vrouwen uitgebannen zijn. In 2010 zal een High Level Event plaatsvinden, waarop bezien wordt of de campagne op koers zit. Alle VN-organisaties moeten gaan samenwerken in deze campagne, die startte met een oorverdovende fluitconcert. "United we stand, eh eh eh United we shall succeed." Dutch youth representative Fenna Timsi gives her statement in the CSW68 Youth Dialogue On Thursday afternoon, 14 March 2024, the Dutch youth representative Fenna Timsi gave her statement in the CSW68 Youth Dialogue inside the UN. The reflections from several participants of this year's Youth Dialogue - the second ever as part of the CSW - were that it has much improved compared to last year. Importantly, many more of the people who were given the floor were actually young people themselves.
