Actie tegen VN-mortorium tegen abortus

Geïnspireerd door het Moratorium tegen de doodstraf (op 17 december 2007 door de Algemene Vergadering van de VN aanvaard) heeft de Italiaanse journalist Guiliano Ferrara opgeroepen om tot een VN moratorium tegen abortus te komen. Ferrara, uitgever van een rechtse krant in Italie en bekende TV-presentator, heeft al steun gekregen uit allerlei landen. Het Vaticaan voorop, maar ook katholieken en andere fundamentalistische groepen uit de VS, Duitland, Frankrijk en het Verenigd Koninkrijk zijn de lobby begonnen.
De Italiaanse vrouwenorganisatie Arcidonna heeft tijdens de CSW het initiatief genomen tot een internationaal protest tegen Ferrara’s moratoriumactiviteiten. Tijdens de grote 8 maart manifestatie in Rome van de Italiaanse vakcentrales en vrouwenorganisaties (waaronder Arcidonna) zal de internationale adhesie publiek gemaakt worden. De boodschap is helder en duidelijk: als we het over vrouwenrechten hebben is een stap terug niet aan de orde.
WO=MEN, Hivos en het IIAV hebben de oproep onderschreven. Andere Nederlandse CSW-gangsters hadden (nog) geen mandaat van hun organisatie met accreditatie. Hier is de stand van zaken. Bij arcidonna@arcdonna.it kunnen organisaties adhesie betuigen.

The CSW68 is a wrap!

We don’t have instructions to proceed to adoption .” After seven days of negotiations at the UN during this year’s Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), Nigeria almost blocked the negotiated outcome document from being adopted.   Dutch youth representative Fenna Timsi gives her statement in the CSW68 Youth Dialogue On Thursday afternoon, 14 March 2024, the Dutch youth representative Fenna Timsi gave her statement in the CSW68 Youth Dialogue inside the UN. The reflections from several participants of this year's Youth Dialogue - the second ever as part of the CSW - were that it has much improved compared to last year.
